Un village pittoresque dans les Pennines
Belmont in Lancashire offers magnificent countryside scenery, and the immediate surroundings are a must-see for lovers of the great outdoors. As well as showcasing some of the finest panoramas in the North West, the town lies between Bolton to the south and Blackburn to the north, making day trips to either very easy via the A666. Manchester, of course, is a little further away, beyond Bolton. That is, if you can manage to tear yourself away from these spectacular surroundings in the first place!
Sweep away those cobwebs at Winter Hill
Rivington Pike and Winter Hill offer excellent hikes, with the ascent of Winter Hill starting just outside Belmont. There are superb reservoirs nearby for those who want a walk by the water, with Anglezarke Reservoir to the west and Entwhistle and Wayoh to the east. The climb up Great Hill on Anglezarke Moor also offers magnificent views. Don’t forget your binoculars: there are plenty of birds in the area.
